Tabula Rasa to close doors

Last Friday, in the official Tabula Rasa site, an announcement marked the ending of this MMO. Due to many problems, NCSoft decided it would be better to just shutdown the game, leaving lots of players with no home to call their own. A few days before, also Richard Garriot (the father of the project) left it, which in some case may have been the trigger to the eminent closure of the game.

Tabula Rasa, was a game, different from other MMO's first because it was set in the future (sci-fi themed), and with a much more action oriented gameplay. From what i played it, i really enjoyed. Tabula Rasa will be missed!

LOTRO Mines of Moria and EQ2 The Shadow Odyssey have now gone live!

Ok, the other 2 anticipated expansions for LOTRO and EQ2 have now gone live!

After last Thursday release of WoW Wrath of the Lich King, today we got double expansion for the happy mmorpg player!

For me, I'm really excited with EQ2 expansion, since it's one of my favorite mmo, so i can only expect more great things for it!
With LOTRO expansion, i plan to play it in a near future, but for the time being my priority goes for WOTLK and TSO.

Lots of fun inbound!

Some photos from Northrend

Last weekend I've started my adventures over Northrend. Being a sort of Asian visitant, i end up taking pictures of almost every new place i got to. Some scenery is really breath taking!

I'll add some here:

So far, I'm finding this expansion very good, with excellent scenery, quests, zones. Maybe a tad too easy (some hardcore guilds already finished the content) but I'm no rusher, so i like it.

WOTLK New York release pictures

Just some pictures:

More here.

Wrath of the Lich King is here!

It started last night around mid-night (some people earlier even), the latest installment in Word of Warcraft, the Wrath of Lich King.

Millions(can i say it?) of players stormed local stores in search for a copy of the latest WoW expansion, to start as soon as possible their adventures in Northrend. Even before i went to bed, in my server(Burning Steppes-EU) there where already hundreds of players there, some already 71, and also lots of new Death Knights being created.

Everyone was waiting for this expansion with great anticipation and excitement. In the following days we will see people rushing for level 80 to start their epic raiding in the new Naxxramas and the raids to follow it.

It's with great joy i log back into WoW knowing that again, i have a new and large set of zones/quests/instances to explore and to do. No more boredom in the next few months :D

And with the expansion of EQ2 for next week, 2008 will end up quite nicely.

Eve Online releases new expansion

In my last post i mention some expansions to be release during the month of November. Yesterday, as i was trying my 5th or 6th trial of Eve, i found out that, today, Tuesday 11-11-2008, would be deployed the latest expansion Quantum Rise.

The great thing about this expansion (besides all the new things it brings), is the fact that it's for free (as all the other expansions for Eve).

So, it's another expansion added to the release list of November. :)

November, a full month of MMO'S!

It's less than week for the release of the second expansion for World of Warcraft, Wrath of the Lich King.

But instead of a single release (which is quite big, considering it's a WoW release), there is also the release of a multitude of expansions for big MMO's.

Let's see:
- 1st we have Lord of the Rings: Mines of Moria in 17/11/2008(for US);
-2nd Everquest 2: The Shadow Odyssey in 18/11/2008;
-3rd And if expansions are not enough, it's expected to be release on 27/11/2008 The Chronicles of Spellborn.

It's expected here hundreds (maybe thousand?) of hours of gameplay, and as far as i can see, all of this expansions (and game) are much more cared than anything i can recall before. Heck, these expansions will probably be better than some MMO's released this year (AoC springs to mind...).

It's with great anticipation, i expect the arrival of this games.

Now for your eyes pleasure, some screen shots of the coming games:

The Chronicles of Spellborn

Lord of the Rings: Mines of Moria

Everquest 2: The Shadow Odyssey

And last but certainly not least, WoW: Wrath of the Lich King

DUNGEONS & DRAGONS ONLINE: Stormreach (DDO), Prisoners of Prophecy update released!

Turbine today announced the launch of the latest update for players of DUNGEONS & DRAGONS ONLINE: Stormreach (DDO), Prisoners of Prophecy.

This major update to DDO delivers a completely upgraded experience for new players, improves solo play with the introduction of Hirelings, upgrades the DDO engine to support DX-10 graphics technology, and adds more monsters, spells, magic items, and challenging dungeons. Prisoners of Prophecy continues Turbine’s commitment to delivering fun, engaging and exciting updates for players in its online worlds.

Just a little side note. Don't know if this update is up also on Europe servers or only on US.

Halloween in a galaxy far far away!

I think this is a period of freebies... Just this weekend i found an e-mail from SOE inviting me for a free month of Star Wars Galaxies.
Seems i was invited to the "ghoulest" Halloween Party in the galaxy! Hehehe

Time to visit the Galaxy once again!
This last weekend, Codemasters allowed unsubscribed players a chance to re-visit Middle Earth for free. By inviting them for a free weekend, every player could again give Middle Earth an hi and check any new things out.

I was one of those invited for this weekend. I canceled my subscription almost 6 month ago (a month after Book 13 came out, i think). So, i didn't got a chance to check the latest Book 14. Well i didn't expect to check it in a weekend. Nor did i do it at all. What i checked was the prologue to the new expansion Mines of Moria. Well was easy to do and nice. Still got a chance to wave goodbye to the fellowship while they headed to Mount Doom.
I also happened to check some changes mainly a new way to get equipment from hard instances by simply repeating old Books which would in return give the player a token that could be traded for gear. Dunno if it's a great feature, haven't tried it myself.

Besides that i just went to quest a little bit with my Minstrel Hobbit. Or was it me that was rusted, but i felt the game play a little bit more clumsy and slow than before... Oh and before when i attacked i would play a little song with a guitar (or something) and now i used a flute. I think it now depends on what item we have equipped. Funny.

By the way, this is my little Hobbit :D

Well it was nice to check Middle Earth again, but i think it's yet to soon to make a come back. Norrath is a better place yet! :D

New blog!

I've decided to create a second blog, mainly for mmo gaming (my hobby), separating it from my regular blog. Any post regarding MMO games and industry will be post here, as well as my adventures online!

Hope you enjoy it!
